Wanderbuch Privacy Policy
Wanderbuch is designed as a private, local-first hiking logbook. The app does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal data to external servers.
Data Used by the App
Wanderbuch may access the following data only with your permission:
- Location: Used only while the app is open to show your current position on maps. Your current location is not saved or shared.
- Health data: Wanderbuch can read workout and fitness data from Apple Health, such as hiking workouts, workout routes, heart rate, active and resting energy, steps, effort data, duration, distance, and elevation. This data is used only to turn existing workouts into hike memories with maps and stats inside the app. Wanderbuch does not record workouts or write data to Apple Health.
- Route data: Route information from workouts may be cached locally to show hike maps and summaries.
- User content: Hike names, notes, and other information you enter are stored locally on your device.
- Photos: If you choose to grant photo access, Wanderbuch may access selected photos and videos to show media for a hike in hike details and maps, and to let you choose a cover photo. Media is not uploaded, copied, or stored by the app.
Storage
All app data is stored locally on your device. Wanderbuch does not use user accounts, external servers, or a backend service.
Future versions may add optional iCloud sync for non-health data. If this changes, this policy will be updated.
Sharing and Tracking
Wanderbuch does not share your personal data with third parties, sell your data, use advertising, track you across apps or websites, or use analytics services.
The app uses Apple MapKit for map display. Apple may process map-related data according to Apple’s own privacy policies.
Permissions
Wanderbuch may request access to Location, Health, Notifications, and Photos. Notifications are used for local reminders when a new hiking workout is found in Apple Health. You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Children
Wanderbuch is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your Control
Because data is stored locally, you can delete your app data by deleting the app from your device. You can also revoke permissions in iOS Settings.
